[Norm]All Fun

Choreographed by KAILI CHE

When we were children, we dreamed of growing up to be adults. When we reach adulthood, we wish we were back to being a kid again. Children are some of the happiest and most fulfilled individuals you will ever meet, and I think adults can learn a great deal from the attitudes of these miniature human beings. Let us not lose our childlike passion for living.

Creative Process:

Thematically, the project dives into the behavioral westernized social norms and its effects/loss on childhood, characteristics of youth, playfulness and fun. Hoping to build and further develop my artistic activities, there is constant stimulation of questioning the work’s movements and intentions. For example: Where does society put children? Where does the spirit of youth, freedom and fun go? Do we struggle to find or keep the idea of playfulness? Is this a result of social norms? Expectations? Responsibilities? Childhood stories like Peter Pan have also made its way to inspiring the theme; he has become a cultural symbolism of youthful innocence and escapism.
