Video Concepts
Welcome to an inside scoop of my beginning works and explorations to dance on film and dancing for the camera. As a dance artist I am passionate about developing my artistic visions, not only representing them through live performances and rehearsals but translating and adapting them for the camera. With “basic camera skills, storyboard organization and editing…”, I introduce you to my “Video Concepts”.
Still Frame
“Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,...” - Lost by David Wagoner. One of the first assignments during my “Dance and the Camera” course, we were tasked to explore what a fixed-camera position can provide for both the cinematographer and viewer. I was interested in creating depth, a storyline and moments of surprises.

Whispered Thoughts
This exploration stemmed from the “Whispered Thoughts” of one's mind when under pressure, stressed or experiencing negative self-talk. Let’s take a moment to breathe (The 4-7-8 Breathing Technique: breath in for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8).

Contemplation (Shower Thoughts)
The overall theme and storyline of “Contemplation (Shower Thoughts)” was inspired by four main concepts of thinking habits that we do and have in the shower; randomness, singing/humming, coping with stress and overthinking. I wanted to take these literal concepts and explore their possibilities with a ray of movements that would target each situation accordingly to thoughts. The multiple change in locations would help reenact the quick, sharp and sudden attention span of our thoughts in the shower. These four main concepts would have subconscious underlying themes that would guide the audience to a deeper understanding of how the mind can wander off into nonsequential ideas.
